Eventing the Future conference announces 2016 program
Set to mark its 15th anniversary, the 2016 Eventing the Future conference will once again look to will challenge current thinking, introduce new modes of operating and give updates on future trends in the events industry.
Being held in Auckland on 3rd and 4th August, New Zealand’s national conference for event professionals has the theme: Inspire - Motivate - Update - Inform.
Taken from the 2015 New Zealand Association of Event Professionals (NZAEP) Award, the conference will present a selection of the ‘best in show’ events from which delegates will be able to learn.
Presentations will cover Balloons over Waikato, the Contact Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge, NRL Auckland Nines, and The Partners Life DUAL Motutapu – Rangitoto Traverse. The quick fire format is ensured to inform and entertain.
Others sessions will cover Event Production tools and techniques from acknowledged industry experts for those delivering events and a research stream with industry research findings linked to practice.
Keynote speaker and social media leader Vaughn Davis (pictured below) has been given a brief to challenge the current thinking of event professionals in order to remain relevant, keep up with audience expectations and meet the very new challenges of the 21st Century.
Davis owns Auckland-based advertising and social media company The Goat Farm, where he works with a range of clients using all manner of tricks to connect brands to people.
In 2010, he wrote New Zealand's first book on social media, Tweet This Book, and these days hosts a weekly show on the subject, Sunday Social, on Radio Live. He's also a regular columnist and contributor to The National Business Review and Idealog Magazine.
In his spare time, Davis helps run TEDx Auckland and Auckland Social Media Club.
Before moving into advertising, Vaughn flew the C130 Hercules for the Royal New Zealand Air Force while, as a child growing up in Lower Hutt, he spent rainy afternoons hanging around the Dowse Art Gallery looking at the paintings and, as he explains "waiting for someone to invent the Internet".
The second keynote presentation will come from experienced events industry professional Scott Davis, the founder of Spyglass, one of New Zealand’s largest creative design companies, and an acknowledged event technology expert.
His keynote address will focus on the latest innovations in technology and techniques to create a unique and engaging experience for your audience regardless of the scale and size.
