New Neighbourhood Park For Hauraki Residents

Residents of the Hauraki area in Auckland's North Shore City will soon be enjoying a brand new neighbourhood park, following the recent purchase of an area of land by the Council.
The building that was formerly located on the Jutland Road property has been removed, and work is now taking place at the park to allow public enjoyment of the 1,255 metre² of land.
The $1.125 million investment, from the Parks Acquisition Budget, has been selected to fill an identified gap in neighbourhood parks in the Hauraki area.
The property has been selected for multiple reasons. It is a large section which had a comparatively low value dwelling on it; it is centrally located within the area lacking in neighbourhood parks; and it is on a corner site at the quiet end of a main thoroughfare, making it visually obvious and easily accessible to the community.
The new park is also located close to Hauraki school, a dairy and café, making it a location which many people will pass during their normal daily activities.
The Hauraki community has been looking forward to the addition for some time and positive feedback from the community is already being received.
Eventually there may be plans developed for the installation of a new playground, however this may be some way off.
In the immediate future, the site is going to be given a tidy up, such as sowing of grass and weeding, so it can be quickly made available for enjoyment by the community. Itâs also envisaged council will look to plant new trees and install some seating.
