New members for Basketball Australia board

Following its recent Annual General Meeting, Basketball Australia has welcomed two new additions to its Board, as the sport moves into the final stage of the unification process that began back in November 2008, which will see the Basketball Australia Board operating as an independent governing body.
Former Basketball Australia Chief Executive Scott Derwin and Malcolm James were announced as the new members who will replace Seamus McPeake and John Maddock, who stepped down in accordance with the unification succession plan and did not seek re-election.
Derwin and James join current Board Members Gillian McFee, Andrew Gaze, Justin Milne and also Martin Cleaver, who was additionally appointed to the Board recently.
After almost three years of successfully steering a unified Basketball Australia through its new structure and governance processes, Chair, Diane Smith-Gander also stepped down and did not seek re-election at the AGM. The six current members will consider the position of Interim Chair at an upcoming Board meeting, before a decision is made on a permanent replacement for Smith-Gander in the near future.
Both Derwin and James join an exciting new-look Basketball Australia Board that boasts a diverse array of skills, knowledge and experience across numerous sectors and who will guide the sport into an exciting and important period of growth and development.
