New Korean attraction combines waterpark and indoor snow

The new One Mount attraction at Goyang, in the Korean province of Gyeonggi combines a new waterpark with a state-of-the-art indoor snow park.

Closer to Seoul than other similar venues, including Everland in Yongin and Seoul Land in Gwacheon, the 160,000 metre2 attraction features an indoor and outdoor water park, an indoor snow park, a sports complex and spa/beuty facilyt.

The waterpark is the third-largest in Korea while the indoor snow park the biggest.

The waterpark offers nine slides, 18 pools and beach pool with five different types of waves. It is also the venue for parties, festivals and performing arts events.

The snow park, which its designers said was benchmarked after the Santa Village in Finland, consists of an ice road, an ice lake, and seven theme caves. It regularly hosts ice shows in the fairytale-like setting.

The attraction is connected to a large shopping mall while the membership-based sports club features an indoor golf driving range, gym, swimming pool and spa. (The gym has also been used as a location for a recent music video by Korean pop sensation Psy).

The new attraction is planning to draw not only Koreans but overseas visitors as well.

A One Mount spokesperson explained "with (the) Hallyu World (cultural attraction) next to One Mount, we expect foreign visitors to amount to about 20 to 30% of the total. We hope it will become a place where foreign tourists want to visit during their stay here."
