New helicopter tandem skydive experience launches on the Gold Coast

Skydive Australia and Sea World Helicopters have announced the launch of an adrenaline-packed heli skydive experience as of this Friday - 23rd July - giving guests the opportunity to skydive directly onto Surfers Paradise’s Main Beach.

Operating three days a week, Friday through to Sunday, in the heart of the Gold Coast, Skydive Surfers Paradise will be the only tandem heli skydiving experience operating regularly in Australia.

Three skydivers and their tandem masters will fly on an AS350 Squirrel Airbus Helicopter before exiting at 10,000 feet, experiencing an exhilarating free fall and then floating serenely under canopy for a further five minutes taking in the spectacular views of the Gold Coast before landing on the soft sands of Main Beach.

Owned by leading Australian adventure company, Experience Co, Skydive Australia currently operate skydiving experiences at 16 dropzones across Australia and New Zealand. However, this being the only heli experience on offer.

Experience Co Chief Executive, John O’Sullivan commented “anyone who has jumped out of a helicopter will tell you that this takes skydiving to the next level and what better place to offer it but on the spectacularly beautiful Gold Coast.

“We are delighted that the Gold Coast City Council has supported our vision to deliver this wonderful new tourism product for the region with our highly experienced partners, Sea World Helicopters at a time when we are all looking at how we can help get the tourism industry back on its feet again.”

Sea World Helicopters operates daily scenic and charter tours from the company’s main operations adjacent to the iconic theme park.

Excited to offer this new activity to guests, Sea World Helicopters Chief Executive, John Orr-Campbell added “we have been undergoing extensive planning for the past 12 months to get this opportunity off the ground so we couldn’t be happier to see it approved by Council giving another great reason for visitors to come to the Gold Coast.”
