New Facility for Otahuhu

Auckland City Council has endorsed the planning process to develop a new swimming pool, library and complete landscaping in the Otahuhu Recreation Precinct.

The first stage of planning is to understand the needs of the Otahuhu community in terms of facilities, now and into the future with the Council seeking feedback from Otahuhu's residents on the sort of activities they want to do, and the type of atmosphere locals want to experience in the new facility

The Council has allocated $22.08 million towards developing the Otahuhu Recreation Precinct, with a new recreation and youth centre having been completed in March 2007. Since this facility opened visitor numbers doubled to over 45,000 visits in its first nine months of operation, compared with 24,000 visits per year to the old centre.
