New Exersite aims to maximise outdoor fitness benefits

Fitness Trails’ new Exersite concept involves placing groups of exercise stations, generally in a cluster, with 15 exercises grouped in a 13 metre² area.

These clusters function as a mini outdoor gym that can be placed in a park, trail or school setting where users can warm-up, stretch, build muscle strength or work on their cardiovascular fitness and cool-down. They are specifically designed and configured so that the user is able to move from exercise to exercise, following the provided instructions, to systematically work out in a safe and effective manner.

The Exersite from Fitness Trails has been designed by physical educators and exercise physiologists to ensure that all users from beginner to pro will get the best results they can. They are safe, durable, attractive, effective, environmentally friendly, easy to maintain and priced competitively.

While Exersites are generally suited to confined areas they can be separated into smaller groups of exercise stations to provide more flexibility in design and usage along a walking, jogging or fitness trail.

Primary school Exersites, designed specifically for primary school aged children, are also available and provide young children with a safe, effective and enjoyable exercise session. The Exercises include warm-up and cool-down stretches, arm, shoulder, abdominal and leg strengtheners, cardio-vascular activities, agility and balance exercises. This balanced combination provides three stages of difficulty to challenge children of all fitness levels. The Exersites can be used by Teachers in a class setting by simply following the easy to read instructions on the graphic panels.

Commenting on the benefits of outdoor gyms, a Fitness Trails spokesperson explains “heading outdoors for fitness not only provides you with the benefits that come from fitness in the first place but it also offers a heightened enjoyment factor that comes with changing scenery and a sense of accomplishment.

“By heading outside for fitness you are not only getting much needed exercise but also vitamin D which has been proven to lower the risk of certain cancers.

“But the best part of incorporating outdoor fitness into your life is that it’s easy and it’s free.

“You may not have the money or the patience to join a gym but an exercise cluster in your local park can make all the difference.”

Founded in 1985, Fitness Trails has installed over 500 fitness trails and outdoor exercise clusters in Australia and more than 100 in the UK, Japan and New Zealand.
