New executive sports leadership course to run in Melbourne
The Institute of Sports Humanities (ISH) and Melbourne Business School (MBS) have partnered to launch the Leadership in Sport short course to run in Melbourne, in April 2023, and annually thereafter.
The short course marks the expansion of ISH’s operations into the APAC region, and the partnership expands MBS’s formidable leadership expertise into the sports industry as Australia enters its ‘Golden Decade of Sport.’
Institute of Sports Humanities Director, Ed Smith advises “It’s a great moment to be launching an executive sports leadership course in Australia, given how the region will play such a pivotal role in the sports industry over the coming years.”
Smith, author, and former Chief Selector for England cricket until 2021 added “the course unites both high performance and sports business, bringing together the latest research and most useful frameworks from across the sporting world.
“Alongside MBS faculty, we are thrilled to have speakers such as Eddie Jones and John Eales to make the course a unique network and learning experience.”
Melbourne Business School Dean, Prof. Ian Harper shared “as leaders in leadership in Australia, we are proud to partner with a globally focused institute to help people at all levels of sport improve their game.

ISH and MBS’ combined expertise, provides a unique way to develop and support the current and future leaders of Australian sport.
The course will cover, i) Decision-making and risk, ii) Society, ethics and diversity, iii) Data analytics, iv) Globalisation and innovation, v) Leadership beyond sport.
