New era for performing arts centre peak body
Revealed at its recent annual conference, Performing Arts Connections Australia (PAC Australia), the new brand for the Australian Performing Arts Centres Association, symbolises the start of a new era for the organisation.
A statement from PAC Australia advises that the “new strategic focus reflects the change that the organisation has undergone over the last five years, and its continuing growth as it responds to the evolving arts industry.
“The new plan is designed to transform the way the Australian performing arts industry creates, connects and delivers extraordinary experiences across the country.
“It starts with a vision that all Australian communities are connected to stories that shape and reflect their lives, their culture and the places in which they live. Connecting producers, presenters and audiences is central to achieving this.
“Curiosity comes next - PAC Australia looks outwards to the new ideas, innovations and issues that are constantly emerging, nationally and globally.
“By collecting and unpacking the latest thinking and innovation in the arts, and then sharing with Australian performing arts presenters and creators, PAC Australia makes real connections between Australian communities and their stories, and between Australian audiences and the performing arts.
“It's all about providing leadership, by sharing best practice and information from around the world with PAC Australia members.”
The PAC Australia concept was introduced to 400 arts leaders at its annual conference at The Concourse in Sydney, in late August, with the new name introduced at the end of four intensive days
Embodying the values of PAC Australia’s new plan is the 32nd PAC Australia Performing Arts Conference and Performing Arts Exchange, which will be presented in Karratha in Western Australia in September next year, aligning with the Red Earth Arts Festival.
This unique part of the world, which has some of the planet’s oldest and newest art, is a fitting location for a conference themed on how place informs art and how art informs place.
Karratha’s brand new performing arts centre is a symbol of the cultural renaissance happening in this town, once known solely for mining.
By bringing the Performing Arts Conference and Exchange to Karratha, PAC Australia is walking the talk; as a key player in this transformation, with delegates helping to create this historic change. Entitled ‘Making Space’, the conference will be a gathering where people and performance come together; a forum where we share and discuss and learn about the arts industry from around the world.
