New contract to streamline management of City of Casey’s leisure facilities
The City of Casey has advised it will be streamlining the management and operations of its eight leisure facilities to maximise health and wellbeing opportunities for the Casey community.
The decision follows a comprehensive review of Council’s leisure facilities which include Casey RACE, Casey ARC, Doveton Pool in the Park, Casey Stadium, Berwick Stadium, Endeavour Hills Stadium, Olive Road Sporting Complex and The Shed Skatepark.
These sites are currently managed by three separate partners, across four separate contacts or service agreements, leading to operational inefficiencies.
City of Casey Chief Executive, Glenn Patterson said as part of the review, various management models were assessed, however it was determined that a single aligned contract, with the option to separately manage Olive Road Sporting Complex and The Shed, would deliver the highest benefit.
Patterson notes “thousands of people visit Council’s leisure facilities every day and increasingly, our venues are also being chosen to host national and international events. Having a number of different management contracts, with a number of different providers, is not efficient for Council and means the experience for users of those facilities is not always consistent.
“As a fast-growing municipality it is important that we review our operations and services to determine where things can be done more efficiently to ensure the best value and service for our community.
“In the case of our leisure facilities, our aim is to bring management of these facilities into a more streamlined approach that will deliver better value for Council and maximise health and wellbeing opportunities for the Casey community.”
Council has met with key industry organisations and the current management of the facilities to discuss this review. The new contract will be created next year and a request for tender will go out to the market in 2023, with the contract to commence on 1st July 2024.
