New Chief Executive appointment for Port Arthur Historic Site Management Authority
The Tasmanian Government has announced the appointment of Jonathan Fisher as Chief Executive Officer of the Port Arthur Historic Site Management Authority (PAHSMA).
PAHSMA is entrusted to conserve and maintain the World Heritage values of Port Arthur, the Cascades Female Factory and the Coal Mines Historic Sites, while also promoting them as tourist destinations.
A Tasmanian Government statement advised “this appointment is particularly timely as PAHSMA is currently embarking on a recovery program to benefit the sites, visitors and staff post-COVID-19.
“With many years’ experience as a CEO, Mr Fisher’s career has given him relevant experience across conservation, heritage, community engagement and environmental and cultural tourism in government, charity, and commercial operations in the United Kingdom and across Australia.
“Mr Fisher’s skills and experience are keenly welcomed by the PAHSMA Board, management, staff and stakeholders as they continue to respond to the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Fisher has served as Chief Executive of the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, National Trust of Australia (Queensland) and, most recently, the Binna Burra Lodge.
The Tasmanian Government acknowledged the dedication and service of former Chief Executive Stephen Large who departed PAHSMA in late 2020 and extends thanks to Dr Jane Harrington for filling the role of acting Chief Executive during the interim period.
Fisher will take up his five-year appointment on 28th June 2021.
