New Aquatics Arena revealed for Singapore's 2025 World Championships

Completed in time for next month's World Aquatics Championships Singapore 2025, the event organising committee has revealed the World Aquatics Championships (WCH Arena) at the Singapore Spots Hub.

Ready to welcome the world’s elite aquatics athletes from 11th July to 3rd August, the 4,800-seat purpose-built facility will serve as the main competition pool for the event, featuring swimming and artistic swimming events, and will also host the Masters Swimming and Water Polo competitions during the World Aquatics Masters Championships (26th July to 22nd August).

Construction of the WCH Arena was led by Kin Productions, the Official Venue Overlay Planning Services Partner for the event. The venue will be powered by Singtel, the Official Network Connectivity Partner for the World Championships, delivering world‑class connectivity through a bespoke 5G+ network. The technology, employing network slicing, will provide tailored, high-performance segments for media, security, and operations teams, ensuring a smooth experience across all aspects of the competition.

Before the world’s elite athletes take centre stage, the WCH Arena will first host the artistic swimming and swimming competitions for the Southeast Asian Age Group Swimming Championships.

Welcoming the opening of the new venue, Mark Chay, Co-Chair of the Singapore 2025 Organising Committee, stated "we are delighted to unveil the WCH Arena, a venue designed to unite and inspire the entire aquatics community.

"Featuring two pools, 4,800 seats and dedicated community spaces, the venue is suitable for hosting competitions across all levels of sport."

The World Aquatics Championships - Singapore 2025 is anticipated to feature more than 2,500 athletes from over 200 countries, competing in 77 medal events across six sports - swimming, artistic swimming, water polo, diving, high diving, and open water swimming.

For the first time, the World Aquatics Masters Championships will take place alongside the elite competition. To date, nearly 6,000 athletes (aged 25 and above) have registered to compete in five sports - swimming, artistic swimming, water polo, diving, and open water - with registration closing on 26 June 2025.

Organisers are hoping that the pool’s depth (three metres) and dimensions can encourage record-breaking performances at the Championships. Seats in the arena have been positioned at a 32-degree angle, differing from the standard 17-degree angle which is typically adopted for spectator seats at other events in Singapore.

The arena will make extensive use of videoboard technology with four screens above the spectator seating, each measuring 14m by 3m, and one screen on the south wall measuring 29m x 3m. Screens along the length of the pool measure 46m x 1m, while the total LED screen length of 177 metres is 20.5 times the height of the Merlion at Singapore's Marina Bay.
