Netball Australia appoints Head of High Performance

Netball Australia’s new Head of High Performance Andrew Collins has committed to the ongoing international success of the Australian Diamonds.

The former Australian Sports Commission executive was formally announced as the organisation’s new Head of High Performance today (1st July) ahead of the sport’s two pinnacle events, 2015 Netball World Cup in Sydney and 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.

Looking forward to his role, Collins explained "the Diamonds are one of Australia's most inspiring and successful sporting teams.

“It's exciting to now have the opportunity to contribute to the team’s future success and work with some of the best athletes in the country.

"The focus of my role will be working with all of Netball Australia's coaching and support staff, partners and stakeholders to ensure that Diamonds continue their success but also to ensure that the next generation of Diamond athlete is identified, developed and supported.

"The game is growing at all levels and engaging with more Australians than ever before so to be given this opportunity is a real privilege and I am looking forward to the challenge."

Collins joins Netball Australia after more than decade working at the Australian Sports Commission, most recently Deputy General Manager of the Participation and Sustainable Sports Division.

He has a strong track record within the Australian sports sector with initiate knowledge of the strategy, systems and drivers of performance.

Netball Australia Chief Executive Kate Palmer said Collins brings a wealth of High Performance experience and knowledge to the organisation, stating "Andrew will bring considerable experience, knowledge and networks to this role. His understanding of the High Performance environment and the opportunities facing netball mean that he will lift us to new heights.

"His appointment is a coup for netball and perfect timing as we approach two of our most significant milestone events. Work has already commenced on our next four-year cycle and Andrew will add enormous value to this process."
