Narellan Sports Hub now open for multiple state competitions 

Camden Council has advised that Narellan is now home to one of south-west Sydney’s largest sporting complexes, following the completion of the second and final stage of the Narellan Sports Hub, a facility which will now see thousands of locals compete across several sporting codes including netball, athletics, rugby league, hockey and cycling throughout the year.

Stage Two work included:

• 14 additional netball courts with floodlighting;

• Synthetic athletics track including field and jump facilities, bleachers, shade structure, floodlighting, drainage and irrigation;

• An additional international size rugby league field with new lighting, irrigation and drainage;

• A multi-purpose field area the size of two football fields which can host a number of sports and includes floodlighting, irrigation and drainage;

• An athletics administration/club building;

• An additional 1,150 carpark spaces in six new carpark areas;

• Internal access roads;

• A criterion cycling track utilising the main circulation access road;

• Road bridge and a pedestrian bridge over the drainage corridor;

• Pedestrian and cycle path network;

• Associated services and infrastructure; and

• Major upgrade of the Porrende Street roundabout including undergrounding of power and landscaping (Funding received from Western Sydney Infrastructure Program at $2.7million).

Mayor of Camden, Therese Fedeli, said it was fantastic to see the complete Narellan Sports Hub come to fruition and added “Narellan Sports Hub will now truly be known as the home for elite sport competitions which is now able to host a number of state competitions across many sports including netball, athletics, hockey and rugby league.

“Attendees also have improved access to Narellan Sports Hub and The Northern Road with the upgrade of the Porrende Street roundabout.

“I’d like to thank the Australian and NSW Governments for their support of sport in Camden.”

The new features have joined the existing 30 netball courts, netball amenities building, playground and carparking which was first opened in October 2017.

Funding was received from the Western Parkland City Liveability Program, at $11.3 million, and the Greater Sydney Sports Facility Fund, at $5 million, for the design and construction of the Narellan Sports Hub Stage Two works in 2019.

Projects under the Western Parkland City Liveability Program are co-funded by the three levels of government as part of the Western Sydney City Deal (WSCD). The WSCD is a 20-year partnership between the Australian and NSW Governments and the eight Councils of the Western Parkland City.
