Myanmar hands SEA Games hosting to Singapore

With the 27th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games having ended in Myanmar on Sunday (22nd December), the start of Singapore's hosting of the 2015 edition of the event has begun.

In a symbolic handover gesture near the end of Sunday's ceremony, Tint Hsan, Chairman of the Myanmar SEA Games Organising Committee, handed over the SEA Games flag to Singapore's acting Minister for Manpower Tan Chuan-Jin, who is also an executive committee member of the Singapore National Olympic Council.

The handover followed a performance by members of the Singapore Soka Association and national athletes from gymnastics and taekwondo.

The closing ceremony also saw Singapore's International Olympic Committee (IOC) member, Ng Ser Miang, hand the Myanmar SEA Games organising committee the IOC Trophy for successfully hosting the Games after a 44-year hiatus.

Singapore has also launched the 2015 Games' official website and Facebook page.
