Muscat Festival looks to attract two million visitors
Venues hosting events during the one-month long annual Muscat Festival are getting set to engross visitors with a gamut of fun-filled activities while offering a kaleidoscopic view of Oman's traditions and vivid culture.
More than two million visitors are expected to visit the two major venues of the Festival, Amerat Park and Nassem Garden, that will turn nights in the Omani capital into nights of entertainment and knowledge for the whole family.
Opening tonight (23rd January), the festival venues will welcomed Omanis expatriates and visitors through to 22nd February.
Held primarily between Amerat Park and Nassem Garden, the festival will be hosting activities that are expected to enthral the visitors from across the globe for 30 days and nights.
Amerat Park will house the Heritage & Culture Village and will feature International performances and concerts which will be broadcasted live on Oman TV and across the popular radio stations. Naseem Garden will be targeting largely families through its many children shows, rides and nightly fireworks.
In 2013, the Muscat Festival welcomed 1.6 million visitors, with Amerat Park alone attracting around 900,000 spectators.
Commenting on this success a spokesperson for the Muscat Municipality explained "Amerat Park has been well received as a venue due to the open space and ample parking. The Omani Heritage and Cultural Village was the biggest drawcard last year. We expect this year's festival to be more fun for everyone."
Since its inception in 1998, Muscat Festival has proved to be more than just an event celebrating Oman's unique culture. Rather it's a festival where all the colours of Oman unite to gloriously showcase Oman's rich historical past with the progressive innovations present today. These events are set to welcome over 180 international media guests from across the world that are descending upon Oman to present this Gulf nation to the rest of the world.
The Festival will also coincide with the 'Tour of Oman' cycle race between 18th and 23rd February. Following a track around Muscat, the acclaimed cycling event will be attracting as many as 100 cyclists from various parts of the world - vying for the top position in this contest.
There race will include six stages covering a total distance of more than 900 kilometres.
