Multiple venues across Casey to host Special Olympics Victoria State Summer Games
Following on from the success of the 2024 Special Olympics Victoria State Games in July, the City of Casey will be hosting the State Summer Games on Saturday 21st September and Sunday 22nd September.
More than 300 athletes will descend on multiple venues across the city to compete in athletics, golf, ten pin bowling, soccer, swimming and tennis.
The State Summer Games are Victoria's premier games, open to people with an intellectual disability to take part in a multi-sport weekend in the hope of qualifying for a place in the State team. The State team will represent Victoria at the 2026 Special Olympics Australia National Games.
City of Casey Chair of Administrators Noelene Duff said it’s an honour to host the State Summer Games and encouraged local sports fans to take the opportunity to attend and enjoy the events.
Duff enthused “We are thrilled to maintain a valued partnership with Special Olympics Australia who provides a platform for people with intellectual disability/autism to achieve their sporting goals.
“We are proud to uphold our commitment to inclusion and diversity across Casey and continue to activate our community facilities and spaces to promote accessibility, connection and inclusion.’”
Special Olympics Australia State Manager Victoria/Tasmania James Hammond said they are thrilled to return for a second action-packed weekend of sport as part of the 2024 Special Olympics Victoria State Summer Games.
