Multi-million dollar renovations revealed at Centennial Parklands Sports Centre

$3.5 million in renovations at the Centennial Parklands Sports Centre - Sydney’s most utilised community sporting precinct - have been unveiled this week by NSW Minister for Environment and Heritage Gabrielle Upton.

The popular precinct, an important training facility for sporting groups in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs features all-weather fields, hard courts and tennis courts used for such as netball, tennis, football and basketball.

Backed by the NSW Government and Centennial Park and Moore Park Trust, the renovations have seen upgrades and resurfacing to the precinct including tennis centre fencing repair, tennis court refurbishment, Sport Centre asset upgrades, netball court resurfacing and lighting upgrades.

Launching the upgrades, Minister Upton stated “with over 180,000 visitors each year, the facilities and amenities at Centennial Parklands Sports Centre were in need of repair and upgrades.

“Social sports and spending time outdoors is an important aspect of Australian culture which is reflected by how many groups use this precinct.”

The Centennial Parklands Sports Centre has been providing friendly, fun and professional services for over 15 years and is made up of 11 tennis courts, 10 hard-surface courts, and a highly successful all weather-field.

Carla Armanet, Director of Sports and Recreation at Centennial Parklands, added “the funding from the New South Wales Government and Centennial Trust played a vital role in bringing this community space back to life.

“We are proud that this is home-field to so many Sydneysiders passionate about grassroots sports and staying active.”

The community sport groups that compete and train in this precinct include 150 schools and clubs with 16,000 hours of sport played at the precinct annually. It also hosts the largest social Netball competition facility in Sydney with over 180 registered teams.
