Movie World to reopen Green Lantern Coaster

Warner Bros. Movie World is preparing to reopen the Green Lantern Coaster before Christmas.

A comprehensive joint investigation with the ride manufacturer and an international specialist engineering firm identified a design issue with the wheel system as the cause of a ride fault earlier this year. That investigation also confirmed the incident was not a result of a maintenance issue and the ride had been maintained as recommended by the manufacturer.

Village Roadshow Theme Parks Chief Executive Tim Fisher said Movie World had worked closely with the Workplace Health and Safety investigators and did not expect any legal proceedings as a result of their review.

Fisher explained “the Green Lantern Coaster’s wheel system has now been re-engineered with additional safety features added.

“We have undertaken hundreds of hours of testing and a review by an international specialist engineering firm as part of our responsibility to the safety and wellbeing of our guests.

“Green Lantern will reopen following extensive final testing by Movie World technicians and the Green Lantern manufacturer, and we look forward to welcoming guests back in the near future.”
