Motosumo partners with new group fitness program Ignite Your Burn
Motosumo, a fit-tech startup from Denmark has partnered with Ignite Your Burn (IYB), a new group fitness conditioning program based in Singapore which sees the Motosumo app used by gym operators and fitness professionals to host group fitness classes.
The IYB program combines Peripheral Heart Action training (PHA), High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), active recovery, and heart rate training. This hybrid approach gives IYB instructors the tools to create exciting, dynamic workouts. IYB-certified instructors will receive Motosumo licenses as part of the deal and use the app to run group fitness classes, both in person and via streaming services.
Motosumo delivers everything required for running group workouts including data tracking, games, races, leaderboards, instructor tools, music features and even “goofy emojis”.
Members and clients don’t need any special equipment to run Motosumo - just their smartphone as Motosumo uses the sensors in your phone to track performance data.
Jonathan Goh is the creator and founder of IYB. He has a long career in the fitness industry and has been garlanded several times for his outstanding and innovative approach to personal training. He knows firsthand the challenges fitness professionals face and notes “putting together an exciting group fitness class is not easy. That’s one of the reasons Motosumo caught our attention. This one app has every feature our instructors will ever need. It’s fun, inclusive, and data driven. The complete package.
“There were also technical considerations for the partnership - one of the key components of the IYB program is heart rate training. We have been looking at a number of other heart rate monitoring services, but they all have some form of limitation. For example, they need additional devices to connect; they’re location-based, so you can’t have classes outdoors; they’re only available to iOS users but not an android; or they have to be used with proprietary heart rate monitors and don’t support third-party devices. Motosumo removes all those limitations for us.”
Motosumo’s CCO, Mahmood Ul-Hassan thinks the deal is confirmation of Motosumo’s adaptability and adds “we’re thrilled to be partnering with IYB.
“From our inception, we’ve tried to make a product that supports the fitness professional, as well as the gym, studio, or wellness centre. Fitpros are the instructors and trainers working directly with the public, inspiring and motivating them every day. So, we’re all about being as adaptable and versatile as possible.”
IYB already has seven master instructors implementing the new program. So far, feedback from test groups has been outstanding.
Goh enthuses “this is what it’s all about. We want our instructors to create the best exercise experience, something that enriches the lives of the participants and keeps them coming back for more.”
