moshtix celebrates first year of independence with a million subscribers
Ticketing agency moshtix has celebrated its first year of independence by signing up its one millionth subscriber and pledging its support to a range of national music industry organisations.
The company became independent again in July 2013 when it was acquired from News Corp by its then Chief Executive Harley Evans, and business partner Vanessa Bond. While no longer formally related, News Corp and moshtix remain close with News providing ongoing marketing support to moshtix.
Staying true to its roots, moshtix has now demonstrated its commitment to the live music industry by providing support to a range of national industry bodies and events including Face The Music in Melbourne, Sydney’s EMC, Fowlers Live Music Awards in Adelaide, and WA’s WAM Awards.
The first year ‘back’ for moshtix and its holding company The Ticket Group was an eventful one as it elected to step back from high profile clients The Australian Grand Prix and Sydney Easter Show to focus on core business.
This saw the business sign multi-year deals with significant clients including Groovin’ the Moo, Oxford Art Factory, The Basement, Merivale Group, Sunset Events and Boomtick. It also secured a range of new relationships with Laneway Festival, Future Music Group, Illusive Entertainment, Marquee Nightclub, The Annandale Hotel and H-W-L-R Bar in Melbourne. They join the likes of Brisbane’s The Met, Adelaide’s Fowlers Live, ACT’s Academy Nightclub and Republic Bar in Hobart by reconfirming their relationship with the ticketing agency.
Speaking about the first year under new ownership, moshtix co-owner and Chief Executive Harley Evans stated “it’s been a hell of a first year, but we’ve come out of it ok and have a huge sense of excitement and energy about what lies ahead.
“Alongside the relief we felt when we re-signed some of our most valued clients and established relations with some amazing new ones, we also dealt with a range of challenges, including one which was pretty public a few months ago.
“But the team has been awesome, and it’s a real privilege now to be able to offer our help and support to a number of outstanding organisations around the country who have the same objectives as moshtix – to feed the appetite of the public for live music and events, and close the gap between the artist and the fan.
“Crossing the magic million subscriber mark was also a great way to finish our first year as independent ‘newbies’.”
Long time moshtix client, Oxford Art Factory, reaffirmed Evans’ comments about the company’s resurgence.
Oxford Art Factory owener Mark Gerber explains “you have to hand it to moshtix.
“They’ve become great listeners and genuinely follow through on their commitments. They give us a level of personalised service you can’t find anywhere else, and their responsiveness is top drawer. We couldn’t be happier with the partnership we have with Harley and his team.”
Looking to the future, Evans concludes “the live entertainment market is facing plenty of challenges at the moment, but we’re really motivated and driven to help where we can and make sure moshtix and The Ticket Group are part of the solution in the event ecosystem.
“We have some great plans for the next 12 months that will help us play that supportive role more effectively than ever before”.
