Moree Artesian Aquatic Centre completion delayed
Completion of a major redevelopment of the Moree Artesian Aquatic Centre (MAAC) in northern NSW has been delayed by floods that have affected the area.
Although the Centre has not been affected by flood waters, flood prevention and recovery works have diverted resources and manpower away from the project.
A milestone in the redevelopment has been reached with the opening of a Polin water slide on Sunday (22nd April), installed at MAAC to enable the centre to better respond to the needs of the community's teenagers.
Moree Plains Shire Council also offered local school children who have been swimming at the MAAC the chance to be one of the first 10 people to ride the waterslide.
Originally scheduled for completion in April, to coincide with the 150th anniversary of the founding of Moree, the completed project, which was outlined in a feature in the September/October 2011 issue of Australasian Leisure Management, is now expected to be fully opened in June.
