Monster Tender

The Sydney Olympic Park Authority, the NSW Government agency responsible for managing Sydney Olympic Park, is currently seeking tenders from suitably experienced organisations that are capable of operating the siteâs Monster Skatepark.
Opened in November 2005, the Monster Skatepark is the first international standard skate park in the southern hemisphere for skateboarders, aggressive inline skaters and freestyle BMX.
Featuring the largest and only international competition-sized vert ramp in Australia, the largest indoor street course and the largest mini ramp, Monster is an indoor and outdoor park which caters for everyone from learners to pro riders. The Skate shop has the biggest stock list of equipment and skaties apparel at competitive prices.
As an attraction the Monster Skatepark has added another dimension to the versatile leisure and entertainment offerings at Sydney Olympic Park.
Thousands of skaters, inline and BMXers have been coming to the Monster Skatepark each month since its opening while the park has also played host to the BMX Games, the countryâs pinnacle competition in freestyle BMX, Skateboarding Australiaâs Summer Series, and Inline nationals. In addition to this it has featured the DC Team tour for the 2006 Sydney Royal Easter Show, the Oakley Demo team as well as Billabong, Volcom and Kwala skateboard teams.
In addition to âfree-rideâ sessions where users skate or ride at their own leisure, Monster Skatepark also offers school activity excursions and âRide with a Proâ clinic sessions.
Approximately 50% of the riders travel more than 30 minutes to come to Monster and 24% of them are from outside the Sydney area. Foot traffic through the Monster Skatepark tips the close to the 100,000 mark each year.
According to the Australian Sports Commission, one in three young people aged six to eighteen participates in action sports riding skateboards, inline skates and BMX bikes and do âtricksâ on the street, around the home or in skate parks. A further six in 10 use skateboards, inline skates and BMX for leisure or transport.
