Monotek Innovates with anti-slip flooring system

Among the many innovations at the recently opened Tweed Regional Aquatic Centre (TRAC) is the installation of an anti-slip flooring system on the swimming pool concourse and in general pedestrian areas.

Rather than using slip resistant mats in its walkways and around its pool edges, floors at TRAC have been treated with Monotek, a granulated epoxy flooring system.

Available from DPJ Coating Systems, this unique resin based, applied flooring system fulfils all the design requirements for modern aquatic and recreation centres.

Monotek is anti-slip (exceeding Australian Standards), highly UV and chemical resistant, seamless, impervious (will not hold water or soils), hygienic, low maintenance and is available in a wide range of colours to suit any design brief.

Now being extensively used in aquatic centres across Australia, Monotek is also ideal for upgrading existing floors, as it fully cures in one hour. It can be installed overnight in sections without shutting down or disrupting operations, which also makes it ideal for general maintenance. At TRAC a mixture of colours was used to assist in providing way finding/patron movements and area designation.

The Tweed Regional Aquatic Centre was featured in the January/February 2009 issue of Australasian Leisure Management.
