Misrepresented Aussie World emphasises investment
Sunshine Coast amusement park Aussie World has set about correcting recent newspaper articles that have incorrectly listed the Sunshine Coast Ettamogah Pub as being owned by Leigh O'Brien, whose company Ettamogah Entertainment was placed in liquidation earlier this year.
In a statement, Aussie World point out that "the Sunshine Coast Ettamogah Pub together with fun park Aussie World ï¾ is 100% independently owned and financially viable."
The statement also points out recent investment in the attraction, adding "the entire complex is currently part of a $2 million dollar plus investment into expanding the tourist hub.
"The expansion includes three new fun rides, the first one Giant Redback opened Easter 2011, the second ride The Giant Slide will open shortly and third ride, yet to be formally named, will open later this year and will be the first of its kind on the Sunshine Coast.
"This substantial investment reinforces Aussie World as a major player in the Sunshine Coast tourism industry."
Aussie World General Manager David Thompson said the purchase of these new attractions will entice more visitors to come to the Sunshine Coast and to stay for longer, stating "due to our management principles and unique diversity of the complex, such as being the largest off site function venue on the Coast, we are successfully forging ahead and are able to make this significant investment.
"We will also remain an affordable and fun day out by not increasing our gate entrance prices."
The three new rides will enhance the current six function areas and 30 rides and attractions on site, which include the Town Hall, The Shed, Giant Redback, Wild Mouse Rollercoaster, Ferris Wheel, Rock n Roll Rebel Dark Ride, Dodgem Cars and Side Show Alley.
