Melbourne’s Federation Square to get new Chief Executive

Experienced facility executive Jonathan Tribe has been named as the new Chief Executive of Melbourne’s Federation Square.

A key pillar of Victoria’s $21 billion visitor economy, Federation Square is one of Melbourne’s most iconic contemporary landmarks, where visitors come to food and wine, and where Victorians congregate for great events.

Tribe is an accomplished leader with a breadth of experience across private and public sector organisations.

He joins Federation Square from Victoria University, where he was Chief Operating Officer. He was previously Managing Director at leading hospitality company, Delaware North.

He has extensive executive experience managing multi-disciplinary businesses, international operations and business development, and has served as Director and President of industry bodies at state and federal level.

Since opening in 2002, Federation Square has welcomed more than 100 million visitors.

Announcing the appointment, Victoria Minister for Tourism and Major Events, John Eren stated “Jonathan Tribe has extensive experience and boasts an astute understanding of both tourism and business development. He’s an excellent appointment.”

“Our visitor economy keeps Victoria’s economy strong. It provides great opportunities for businesses – and that means jobs for locals.”
