Melbourne Polytechnic appoint YMCA Victoria to manage Preston Fitness Centre

After a competitive process Melbourne Polytechnic have signed a 42 month contract with YMCA Victoria to manage the Melbourne Polytechnic Preston Fitness Centre.

The contract provides YMCA Victoria with further opportunity to deliver fitness and tailored community programs and services for the strong membership base of students, staff and community. This includes new equipment for virtual group fitness as well as body composition scanning.

This is the third centre YMCA Victoria will manage within the Darebin City Council, with the not-for-profit organisation currently managing Northcote Aquatic and Recreation Centre and the Darebin Community Sports Stadium.

YMCA Area Manager Richard Quail said the new partnership and growth within Darebin will strengthen their community impact, stating “this is an exciting opportunity to positively contribute to the student experience for Melbourne Polytechnic students at Preston.

“The YMCA exists for young people and for the community. This partnership will strengthen opportunities within the Darebin area.”

Karen Cook, Melbourne Polytechnic’s Manager Student Services, added that having YMCA Victoria on board ensures that fitness centre members have access to enhanced programs and services, and will benefit for the broader Melbourne Polytechnic community.
