Melbourne and Olympic Parks announce venue refurbishment plans

The Melbourne and Olympic Parks Trust has announced a series of refurbished venues across its world-class events precinct located on the edge of Melbourne’s vibrant CBD.

Rod Laver Arena and Margaret Court Arena have been redeveloped to offer exciting new event options, and combined with AAMI Park and Melbourne Arena, are set to offer an enhanced premier experience for businesses and associations across Australia and abroad.

Melbourne and Olympic Parks is about to embark on stage-three of its $1 billion redevelopment. Offering an array of unique spaces, the venues are fully flexible and customisable for large or small parties, and indoor or outdoor locations.

Melbourne and Olympic Parks General Manager – Premier Events and Experiences, Lara Burnes explains “few venues in Australia can connect guests as directly, and as intimately, with the city as we can.

"Equally, not many could host the span of extravagant sit-down galas hosted within our premier function spaces to iconic dinners under the stars in our retractable-roofed Margaret Court Arena – where guests will be thrilled to know they are seated where the greats of tennis have played.

“Ultimately, we work to cater to bespoke experiences and are inspired by delivering successful events that create an iconic and memorable experience for our clients.”

In addition to venue spaces, Melbourne and Olympic Parks offers exceptional catering options for events.

Monica Stiles, Change Advisor, CSIRO Organisational Development and Change adds “I’ve run two large events with Melbourne and Olympic Parks and both experiences have been seamless.

“Words that come to mind when I think of the Melbourne and Olympic Parks team include trusted, reliable and world-class. They go that extra mile for our event needs and their event spaces are outstanding."

Melbourne and Olympic Parks venues include:

  • Rod Laver Arena (Centre Court during the Australian Open), perfect for hosting intimate gatherings  within its exciting brand-new open spaces.

  •  AAMI Park, the site of Melbourne’s award-winning stadium for football, rugby union and rugby league, offers an array of spaces that can cater for events from 10 to 1000 guests

  • Margaret Court Arena and Melbourne Arena, which both present exciting large-scale event formats for 200 to 8500 guests with flexibility for formal dinners, cocktail-style events, galas and conferences.(pictured top).

Looking to 2022, a new state-of-the-art conference centre with the capacity to host 3000 guests will join M&OP’s list of arenas, stadiums and venues. The new development promises to elevate M&OP’s capabilities with bookings available from early 2019.
