Matt Welsh to address ALFA Queensland 2011 State Conference

Olympian and swimming world record holder Matt Welsh will present the keynote address at the Australian Leisure Facilities Association Queensland (ALFAQ) 2011 Industry State Conference.
Matt Welsh has carved himself into Australian swimming folklore as one of the country's greatest ever swimmers achieving Olympic, World Champion and Commonwealth Games success.
Now, away from the pool Matt has become a reliable and insightful expert commentator and a popular guest personality appearing on all networks current affairs/news, chat, panel, variety and breakfast shows. Matt is passionate about water quality and will provide his own insight into where he sees the industry heading especially from an environmental perspective.
This year's ALFAQ Conference will be held on Thursday 11th and Friday 12th August 2011 at the Logan Entertainment Centre, in the southern suburbs of Brisbane. The conference theme is sustainability and will cover a broad range of strategic and operational issues and provide delegates with practical and pertinent advice in all areas of environmental and business sustainability.
The conference will bring together a diverse and knowledgeable group of industry decision makers including chief executives, directors and managers of local government, aquatic and recreation facility managers, commercial organisations and state government officials.
Particular emphasis will be made on providing information on the continuing Queensland Aquatic Sustainability Program (QASP). The QASP is a joint initiative between ALFAQ and the Queensland Department of Environment and Resource Management (DERM).
It is anticipated that the Queenslad Government Minister Vicky Darling or the Assistant Director General, Greg Withers will open the event. Departmental officials will also be in attendance and presenting on environmental issues.
The Conference will also be preceded by a forum for local government aquatic supervisors and managers. The forum will allow delegates to discuss a range of operational issues and establish a networking vehicle for other cross boundary relationships.
