Magic Memories acquires Jackson Digital Imaging

New Zealand-based global attraction photography company Magic Memories has announced the acquisition of US based Jackson Digital Imaging (JDI).

The acquisition of JDI by Magic Memories will see the combination of JDI's world class technology and Magic Memories global sales and service delivery capabilities to position the combined group at the head of the queue in attractions photography.

Magic Memories have progressed a long way in their seventeen-year history, from a company that took guest photos in the entrance way of New Zealand attractions to an international high performance organisation where the guest experience has become the epicentre of their business.

Today Magic Memories has more than 70 partner attractions across eight countries and is taking photos of over 20 million people a year to share.

Magic Memories co-founder and Chief Executive at Magic Memories John Wikstrom explains "from day one we have developed our understanding of the guest experience and fed this evolution back to our partners, so they are always a part of our developing proposition. This has meant that our products and services have continued to improve and that has been evident in the growth of our people, products and ultimately our performance."

The acquisition of JDI now allows Magic Memories to take innovative technology solutions to the top of a roller coaster or the depths of a log flume to capture those smiles and enhance the guest experience like never before.

JDI founder Kevin Jackson, adds "we've always worked hard to be world class and found that Magic Memories are exceptional in areas where we are not, so they help fit our jigsaw puzzle together. It's an ideal partnership to us and we're really excited to have joined forces with them."

Described as "one of the cleverest people in the photo and video imaging space" by John Wikstrom, Kevin Jackson and his spouse Laura have built JDI to be pioneers of ride imaging technology in theme parks internationally. Both Kevin and Laura will remain a key part of the business along with their technical and support teams.

This acquisition positions Magic Memories as a true industry innovator allowing them to offer another level of product and service to enhance their guest experience as well as commercialising the ideas of JDI with their international partners.

Wikstrom continues "Jackson Digital is a superb company to have joined our family. They have it all, excellent people, leading edge technology and a key drive and passion to be innovative and lead the market. We can now give them the added support to help take JDI & Magic Memories to the next level and enhance our growth strategies."

Magic Memories have a vision to ensure 'We Make People Smile' and with the planning of new ride photo and video technology solutions with JDI underway, the capture of guest's smiles and screams are about to get a lot bigger and a lot louder.

Key executives from both companies will be attending the IAAPA Expo in Florida in November, where Magic Memories are exhibiting.

Wikstrom adds "this year's IAAPA event is an important milestone in our development where we will be meeting key industry players and showcasing just why we have become the trusted partner of some of the world's leading attraction companies."
