Macquarie University unveils cutting edge Health Club

A new state of the art fitness club has opened as part of the Macquarie University Sport & Aquatic Centre. Based on the University campus at North Ryde, NSW the addition of new space, facilities and equipment will make it one of the most comprehensive fitness facilities in Sydney.

Open to members of the community as well as the students and staff of Macquarie University, the Centre includes new cardio equipment with touch screen technology and iPod interconnectivity, new group fitness studios to facilitate more than 100 group fitness classes per week, and a 400 metre2 weights room with strength equipment and free weights.

Macquarie University General Manager Sport & Recreation Cindy Hoad is excited about what the expansion means for students and the local community, stating "the upgraded health club is just one of the many exciting developments to take place at the Sport & Aquatic Centre and ensures that we can offer all students at Macquarie University a healthy lifestyle and a fantastic student experience.

"It is a common misconception that the facilities are only here for students to use, but actually, despite being based in the campus, everything from the Health Club to dry sports, sport clubs and Swim School are open to the general public and their families. This fitness hub truly is a 'one-stop shop' that offers affordable, healthy activities for everyone."
