GetAboutAble Accessible and inclusive Tourism Conference to be staged on the Gold Coast

After two years of being a fully virtual event, the 2023 Accessible and Inclusive Tourism Conference in the Asia-Pacific (AITCAP) will be held on the Gold Coast on 28th April, and also as a virtual event on 11th May 2023.

As announced at the recent Destination Q conference, the AITCAP on the Gold Coast will be its first major physical event, which will enable the conference to have a broader scope and be more accessible to a wider audience.

To stage AITCAP, organisers GetAboutAble have partnered with the City of Gold Coast to showcase the region as an accessible and inclusive destination while helping local businesses on their accessible and inclusive journey.

The Gold Coast’s commitment to being inclusive and accessible location links with the Queensland Government having announced 2023 to be the Year of Accessible Tourism.

This has seen $12 million in funding offered to Queensland tourism operators to create opportunities that develop or enhance accessibility for people of all abilities.

The funding and designated year aims to also help change the perception of what it means to be an accessible tourism business while also promoting accessible tourism destinations and experiences in Queensland.

AITCAP organiser GetAboutAble is an Australian social enterprise focused on improving travel and leisure options for people with disability.
