Mackay Convention Centre nears completion
The roof on the Mackay Convention Centre has been raised five months ahead of the new facility's completion date.
Moved into place ahead of North Queensland's wet season by a massive crane, the roof is made up of 180 sections. The $29 million centre is due to be finished in April with an official opening two months later.
Attached to Mackay's existing entertainment centre, the venue will have an 1,800-seat capacity, and seat 900 people in a banquet setting.
