Community input invited on Burnside’s Regal Theatre accessibility

The Regal Theatre, owned and managed by Adelaide’s City of Burnside, is a heritage listed attraction in the community and home to a range of movies and also includes the popular Hula Hoop Restaurant and Café.

From opening in 1925, The Regal Theatre has played a major role in the fabric and culture within the City of Burnside community.

After finalising its future concept plan, Council is ready to move to detailed design. Importantly the detailed design phase includes opportunities for accessibility and functional improvements to the interior of the building and plaza.

Council want to hear from the community members living with disabilities, their families, and supporters with lived experience as this input is invaluable in creating an enjoyable experience for everyone who visits The Regal.

Burnside Council has partnered with JFA Purple Orange to hold a community workshop on Wednesday 28th February 2024, 5 pm to 6.30 pm.

The workshop will be held in person at the Council Civic Centre and online via live stream.

Disability project officers, with lived experience, and advocates for disability inclusion from various backgrounds, will facilitate the workshop.

If you are interested in attending, please register with your name and preferred method of contact.

Workshop attendees will receive tickets to a movie session of their choosing at the Regal Theatre to thank them for their time.
