Logan City Aquatic Facilities secure Royal Life Saving Safety Gold Endorsements

Four Logan City aquatic facilities have secured Royal Life Saving’s Gold Standard Pool Safety endorsements for 2024-25. The Logan City Council facilities are one of only three Queensland-based councils to achieve a Gold status in safety for their operations.

The Logan facilities endorsed under the program are Gould Adams Park Aquatic Centre (Kingston), Logan West Aquatic Centre (Hillcrest), Beenleigh Aquatic Centre (Beenleigh) and Logan North Aquatic Centre (Underwood).

The Platinum Pools Program was introduced to highlight aquatic facilities achieving the highest standards in aquatic safety and risk management, with accreditation recognised as a sign of excellence within the Industry.

To achieve endorsement, facilities go through a rigorous series of assessments to ensure it met all Royal Life Saving’s criteria for the accreditation.

Royal Life Saving Society Queensland State Manager Nikki Thornhill said the endorsements are a way of recognising those facilities that are striving towards and attaining the highest levels of safety requirements against known standards.

Thornhill notes “It is pleasing to see that these centres have taken a proactive and industry leading approach in the provision of aquatic safety management at their venues.

“These facilities are the first in the City of Logan to achieve this level of safety endorsement from RLSSQ. It is pleasing to see owners and operators working together to ensure these high standards are reached and maintained.”

Included in the award is completion of the national Royal Life Saving Aquatic Facility Safety Assessment, Lifeguard Mystery Guest Assessments and adherence to a Royal Life Saving child supervision program.

Mayor Jon Raven said Logan City Council had a strong commitment to safety and helping communities stay active.

Mayor Raven added “It’s great to work with Royal Life Saving to make sure our venues are safe, welcoming, and offering quality programs.

“Having four of our venues awarded GOLD level endorsements shows our hard work has paid off.

“With such amazing facilities, it’s no wonder Logan is such a popular choice for families.”

All public aquatic facilities, commercial swim schools and education institution pools are eligible to participate in the program, however, endorsements will only be issued to facilities which successfully achieve the hurdle requirements, including a high compliance score against relevant standards, legislation and industry guidelines.

Royal Life Saving acknowledges the support of its state / territory and national partners in delivering this program.
