LeisureShare aims to unify leisure industry sectors in Western Australia
A group of leisure industry representatives have joined forces in Perth to jointly work towards industry improvements.
LeisureShare is an industry-based networking forum providing the opportunity for supervisors, team leaders and managers to share their wins, challenges and ideas.
Charlotte Dallas, Coordinator of the LeisureShare event series, explains “LeisureShare sessions provide attendees access to a wide sense of support from other industry representatives in the Perth Metro area and beyond.
“Attendees value these sessions because they no longer feel they are facing challenges in isolation. “We meet up once a quarter and begin the session with a presentation on a specific topic, we then receive an update from the hosting centre before moving on to a Roundtable discussion and finish with a tour of the hosting centre.
“It's a great opportunity to learn from one another and gain some up-to-date industry insights from the research provided and the invited guest presenters. The attendees enjoy the fact that we take it in turns to host the sessions; allowing us to get out of our own centres and see how other leisure centres are operating.”
To date, the free-to-attend LeisureShare forums have been primarily focussed on fitness and wellness related topics but Dallas is keen to extend future forums into other sectors by connecting with key industry bodies such as LIWA Aquatics, Parks and Leisure Australia, Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries - Sport and Recreation and Australian Swimming Coaches and Teachers Association.
Fitness Australia representatives have been in attendance at several sessions to create a strong connection between fitness in the leisure industry and Australia's fitness governing body.
Dallas, a consultant with Fit 4 Business WA, adds “I hope these sessions continue to grow and support the leisure industry so we become a stronger industry, together."
Attendee Luke Jenkins, Health & Fitness Coordinator at City of Wanneroo, explains “these sessions feel like a real community of peers, rather than industry get-togethers, which is great.
“We've all really embraced the message of sharing and unifying together."
Dallas’ vision for these sessions is to expand across other industry sectors to develop a broad range of session topics so that the leisure industry has a go-to forum for supervisors, team leaders and managers.
