Leading names to star in QTC's Creative Development Series
Some of Queensland's leading stars of the stage have been announced as part of Queensland Theatre Company's Creative Development Series, the incubator program of new ideas, art, performance and exploration presented in The GreenHouse (Bille Brown Studio). Performers like the critically acclaimed Christen O'Leary, fresh from her incredible run as Judy Garland in End of the Rainbow and Hugh Parker, star of QTC's Season 2013 opener The Pitch, join forces with Matilda-Award-winners Eugene Gilfedder, Melanie Zanetti, and Kathryn Marquet, and O'Leary's End of the Rainbow co-star Anthony Standish.
QTC Artistic Director Wesley Enoch said having these incredible actors lead from centrestage was a great coup for the Creative Development Series.
Enoch explained "creative development is how we cultivate and nurture the next generation of projects we invite everyone to come along and experience this program, it's important we have great audiences."
Eugene Gilfedder, Hugh Parker and Melanie Zanetti will take the lead in the Play Reading and Development Showing of Matthew Ryan's Bull on 19th April (Matthew Ryan wrote the award-winning Kelly which QTC premiered in season 2012).
The next evening in The GreenHouse will see Kathryn Marquet, Christen O'Leary and Anthony Standish in the Play Reading of Gloria by Elaine Acworth on 20th April. The Creative Development Series projects use a mix of physical theatre and clown, new writing, music and dance, design and animation, sexy new ideas and heated conversations. Each project has a short intensive period to invent, play, explore and build their performance ideas culminating in a show and tell' for the public. It is the chance for the public to witness and be part of new works at their very beginning.
The Creative Development Series begins on Wednesday 27th March with the Development Showing of Candy Bowers' Twelve, with musical direction by Busty Beatz.
The Creative Development Series program includes:
