Kathy Graham appointed as Broken Hill City Gallery and Museum Manager

Broken Hill City Council has appointed West Darling Arts' (WDA) Kathy Graham to the position of Gallery and Museum Manager.

Graham is a current board member of WDA, and held various positions within WDA between 2014-2017 including Arts Officer, Project Officer, and Communications Officer, before serving as Chairperson between 2018-2022.

Graham previously worked at the gallery as a Programs Officer between 2010-2016, designing and implementing community and education programs, developing and preparing exhibitions, and hosting opening nights and other events.

She has also serving as Council’s Interim Works Manager, and has also held a variety of other senior roles within Council, including management the Waste and Sustainability department and relieving roles at Executive level for Council's Chief of Assets and Projects.

Council's General Manager, Jay Nankivell, said he was confident the Broken Hill City Gallery and Albert Kersten Mining and Minerals Museum (GeoCentre) would flourish under Graham’s management.

Nankivell advised "It was an extremely competitive recruitment process for this role, however we felt that Kathy offered an ideal mix of artistic capacity and managerial experience.

"She already has six years of gallery experience with regard to events, programs, exhibitions, and handling our precious collection, and she has built an impressive resume and network of professional partnerships in her many roles with WDA.

"Kathy also has years of experience in the mining field, which will be invaluable as we look to reimagine and revitalise the GeoCentre in the future.

"Although I'm sure Kathy will be missed by her current staff, we can't help but be impressed with her passion to pursue a career in the arts, and wish her every success in her new position."

Graham transitioned to her new role at the gallery in mid-April.
