International Sport Summit to precede Brisbane’s INAS Global Games

An international line up of sport experts will address the topic Inclusion - What Matters in the Future at the International Sport Summit, to be held in advance of the 2019 Brisbane INAS Global Games in October.

The INAS Global Games - the world's biggest sports event for athletes with an intellectual impairment - will be the backdrop for delegates to join global leaders and key influencers in the world of inclusion at the Summit, being held at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium, on 10th and 11th October.

Robyn Smith, Chief Executive of the 2019 Brisbane INAS Global Games and Sport Inclusion Australia, explains “this Summit is an amazing opportunity to collectively and enthusiastically address the importance of inclusivity in sport. The INAS Global Games are a beacon for encouraging athletes to shine on the sporting arenas with the focus on their immense ability.

“This is a gathering of like-minded sporting leaders from around the world all lobbying to increase inclusive pathways for athletes at all levels. Their challenge for sport to be inclusive of all, will be important in determining the future of the movement.”

President of the International Paralympic Federation, Andrew Parsons from Brazil joins the founder of the UK Frost Included, Stephen Frost and Professor Jennifer McTavish from the University of Ryerson in Canada in challenging the sports world to look at new and inventive initiates allowing greater access for all to sport.

Kate Palmer, Chief Executive of Sport Australia and Lynne Anderson, Chief Executive of Paralympics Australia will add their experience of the Australian sporting landscape as well as a number of leading speakers sharing their experiences in creating opportunities for those with a disability.

After listening to presentations from a wide variety of presenters including athletes and coaches, delegates will be challenged to use the information and discussions from the two days and be involved in determining what key steps and actions can be taken to improve sports inclusion. 

These outcomes will form the basis of a communique to monitor change leading to the next INAS Global Games event.
