Indoor Cycling Group named NSW Telstra Business award winner
The Indoor Cycling Group has been named NSW winner of the Telstra Business 'Go for Business Gold' competition, with Olympic motivator Laurie Lawrence presenting the award to the business.
The competition, to find outstanding business motivators among the country's two-million-plus small to medium businesses, recognised The Indoor Cycling Group's choreographed indoor cycling fitness programs.
Businesses were asked to submit a brief video online or written summary that showed how they excelled at motivating staff, themselves or their customers.
Based in the Sydney suburb or Glebe, the Indoor Cycling Group, which owns two accredited fitness training systems, has won a visit from an Olympian or Paralympian after the London Games, as well as PR and marketing support, plus other prizes from Samsung and Adidas.
Owner and sole trader Matty Clarke attended an exclusive small business Master Class in the CBD last Thursday with leaders in business management and marketing.
The night was spent networking at an Olympic-themed Business Gold function at the Museum of Contemporary Art where finalists and winners mingled with Telstra Australian Business Award winners and other business experts.
Australian Olympic swimming coach Laurie Lawrence judged the eight winning entries and was videoconferenced into the function via high speed Telstra broadband from London, where he is working with the Australian team in the Olympic village.
Lawrence explained "it was a tough job selecting winners from the finalists but Indoor Cycling Group showed they were a worthy winner.
"As a small businessperson with a couple of swimming schools, I know that to be successful in small business, you've got to put the hours in. The same applies in elite sport."
