Inaugural conference on fabric structure design
The Lightweight Structures Association of Australia (LSAA) is holding a two day Conference 'Collaborative Design in Lightweight Structures' on 13th and 14th October.
To be held to the Novotel, Sydney Olympic Park, the conference is preceeded by a workshop on the Design of Shadecloth Structures on Wednesday 12th October and will include the LSAA 2011 Design Awards.
With lightweight and fabric structure being widely used in the leisure industry - for venues, stadia, attractions, shade covers and exhibition space - the event has a relevance to all with an interest in facility developments.
Presentations and case studies at the conference will include:
• Taronga Zoo chimpanzee enclosure - Ronstan;
• Glen Eira Aquatic Centre - James Marr, Tensys Engineers;
• Adelaide Oval grandstand - Garth Rowland, Aurecon; and
• Mahiba Stadium, Durban - Thomas Hermeking, Pfiefer.
The conference will also include a keynote address from Daryl Maguire of Populous (New Zealand).
