Idea Live entertainment venue opens in Malaysia

Aiming to transform Malaysia’s entertainment and live performances landscape the new Idea Live Arena has opened in the city of Petaling Jaya, a metropolitan community to the west of Kuala Lumpur.

The venue’s opening marks a significant milestone as the country gears up for an expected surge in tourism leading to Visit Malaysia Year 2026 (VM2026), positioning Malaysia as a key player in the entertainment tourism arena.

Designed to host up to 5,000 seated patrons and accommodate up to 7,000 people in a flexible setup, the new venue is being positioned it as the ideal location for large concerts, live performances and a variety of entertainment events.

Built at a cost of RM40 million (US$9 million), the Idea Live Arena is equipped with world-class sound, lighting, and visual systems, setting a new benchmark for indoor entertainment venues in Malaysia.

Located within the 3 Damansara shopping mall, it features a spacious reception foyer, fully equipped dressing rooms, and five VIP boxes, ensuring that both performers and audiences enjoy a premium experience. These advanced facilities elevate the standard of entertainment in Malaysia, making it a true contender for international events and acts.

Commenting on the opening of the new venue, Selina Ng, Managing Director of Retail, Commercial Management at CapitaLand Investment, which is leading the redevelopment of 3 Damansara, advised “as part of the rejuvenation plans for 3 Damansara, we are excited to introduce a brand-new international entertainment and live performances event hall, further elevating the lifestyle and retail experience for our shoppers.

“Visitors can expect an exciting calendar of engaging and crowd-pulling events at Idea Live Arena.”

The recent opening event saw the participation of Dato’ Azmir Saifuddin Mutalib, Chief Executive of the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS), underscoring the significance of the Idea Live Arena in elevating Malaysia’s entertainment and creative sectors.

As Malaysia accelerates its preparations for VM2026, the Idea Live Arena is to play a pivotal role in delivering unforgettable entertainment experiences for millions of visitors.

In the lead-up to VM2026, the arena will host a wide array of concerts, festivals, and live shows, providing visitors with an unprecedented opportunity to experience Malaysia’s cultural and artistic talents.
