iCREPs meeting sees coming together of international fitness registration bodies
International fitness registration bodies from Australia, New Zealand, UK, USA, United Arab Emirates, Canada, South Africa, Ireland and Poland have come together at the International Confederation of Registers for Exercise Professionals (iCREPs) forum being held in Dublin, Ireland.
Collectively representing over 220,000 exercise professionals, the iCREPs system allows international portability for fitness professionals wanting to work in each of the member countries.
In the case of Australia, the system gives Fitness Australia Registered Professionals the chance to work overseas, through the recognition of their Australian qualifications.
Chris Alexander, Fitness Australia’s Manager of Standards and Development, who is representing the Australian fitness industry at the meeting, explains “it’s a very productive couple of days where global leading registration bodies can come together to discuss best-practice systems.
“Professionalising Exercise is what we are all about, and international strategies relating to exercise professionals delivering quality fitness services is our key reason for existing.”
"I'm proud to be representing our world-class industry on behalf of Fitness Australia - administering the official Australian Register of Exercise Professionals is a huge responsibility in which we take pride."
Fitness Australia is a member of iCREPS which allows collaboration with associations from across the globe to guide the continuous improvement of the Australian fitness industry.
The other international registration bodies attending include REPs NZ, US REPs, REPs UK, REPs UAE, REPs Canada, REPs South Africa, REPs Ireland and REPsPoland.
Other countries due to be included as members of iCREPs are China, India and Spain.
