ICREPs approves first education provider outside of ICREPs member countries

The Asian Academy for Sports & Fitness Professionals (AASFP), a provider of education for exercise professionals in Hong Kong, China, and throughout east Asia, has been recently accredited by the International Confederation of Registers for Exercise Professionals (ICREPs) against the recently released ICREPs Global Standards for exercise professionals, making it the first provider to be recognised in a country without an ICREPs member/national register for exercise professionals.

Welcoming the development, ICREPs Chair Richard Beddie explained "as the first provider to be recognised in this way, this is a big step forward in helping with the global portability of exercise professionals.

"AASFP will now be able to work with each ICREPs member around the globe that operate national registers to set up portability agreements with them, which will ultimately result in their graduates being globally recognised."

AASFP, already highly regarded through Asia are pleased to be recognised by ICREPs in this way, with Marketing and Communications Manager Jacqueline Yue commenting "we are truly excited to be the first training provider in Asia recognised by the International Confederation of Registers for Exercise Professionals and very proud that AASFP program has reached the global standards for exercise professionals.

"AASFP graduates can now be recognised internationally and can realise the possibility of working and registering in another ICREPs member country."

ICREPs is the global membership body for national registers of exercise professionals, and has members in seven countries, that collectively register 60,000 exercise professionals.

In addition to membership for national registers, ICREPs operates a recognition program of providers in countries where there is no national register, and AASFP is the first to be recognised under this accreditation program.

The accreditation is undertaken by one of the UK's leading award bodies, the Central YMCA Qualifications (CYQ).

The global standards may be accessed from the ICREPs web site - www.icreps.org
