Hush quietens music in outdoor Group Fitness
In what's believed to be a world first for the fitness industry, Sydney start up Hush Fitness delivered its first outdoor group fitness to music class this month in Centennial Park.
Offering a unique combination of group fitness, the outdoors and popular music, Hush Fitness participants are provided with their own pair of headphones with individual volume controls. This enables them to hear both the instructor and the music for a fun and energetic fitness experience in nature while removing any noise impact on other park users or neighbours.
Adapting technology used in 'silent discos', that allows dance parties to be held in complete silence, the 'silent discotechnology' concept presents many opportunities in fitness.
Hush Fitness Director Emily Gillies explains "people love silent discos and group fitness has never been more popular, so we wanted to create the buzz of a group fitness class to music with the holistic benefits of being outdoors too.
"The great thing about the technology is that the music sounds amazing through the headphones, it's a lot better than in the gym and you have the added benefit of adjusting the level to suit."
Classes are specially designed to work with the outdoor environment, so participants can expect a different fitness experience.
As Gillies adds "we wanted to make sure we weren't just replicating the indoor group fitness offering, so our classes are designed to match their environment and the music is energetic and full of the sounds of summer."
Gillies hopes to expand Hush Fitness' locations and class offerings and are also developing classes for children which they've already had a lot of interest in.
Hush Fitness runs out of Centennial Park and offers an introductory free first session is free.
Media are most welcome to join a scheduled Hush Fitness class for free.
