Hordern Pavilion welcomes new General Manager
Playbill Venues, venue manager of Sydney's landmark Hordern Pavilion, has announced the appointment of Anthony Dunsford as its new General Manager.
Playbill Group Managing Director Michael Nebenzahl advised that appointment comes at a significant time for the company, stating "we’re embarking on a major rejuvenation of the Hordern Pavilion as part of the PlayOn Group’s plans to revitalise the entertainment precinct.
“As Playbill starts this new exciting chapter at Moore Park, we are thrilled to have someone with Anthony’s experience at the helm. He will play a key role in bringing to life our vision for the precinct in collaboration with our joint venture partners, the Sydney Swans.
“Anthony has worked at many of Sydney’s most popular and most-visited public destinations, such as Sydney Airport and Taronga Zoo. He’s also managed some of Sydney’s most diverse outdoor event spaces, including The Domain and Centennial Park.
“Anthony has a great appreciation for the social and economic value that events bring to our community. We’re going to draw on Anthony’s knowledge and skills as we enhance the Hordern, expand its range of flexible performance options and activate the new outdoor plaza space.”
Dunsford leaves his role as the Director of Visitor Experience for the Botanic Gardens and Centennial Parklands to join Playbill Venues on 15th April 2019.
Commenting on his new role, Dunsford advised "the Hordern Pavilion is one of Sydney’s all-time favourite venues and I can’t wait to lead the team transforming this precinct into an even greater drawcard for our community.
“Playbill is making a significant capital investment in this heritage venue, opening up its shared forecourt plaza, and inviting the community to enjoy this new entertainment space.
“With plans to host an even wider variety of events and performance options, the Hordern will enhance its position as one of Sydney’s premier destinations for live music, culture and entertainment.
“This is only possible with great people, and thankfully I know from experience that Playbill already has a great team and one that’s committed to working with its clients and patrons, as well as community and industry stakeholders to activate this live precinct.”
