Historic agreement for Queensland baseball
Baseball Queensland and the Australian Baseball League’s Brisbane Bandits have entered a new agreement and will collaborate in a range of areas to help drive key outcomes for the sport in the state.
A memorandum of understanding signed by the pair is built on a common-sense approach where the two organisations can work together to provide a range of outcomes for the sport’s community in Queensland.
It comes after the two organisations worked independently for almost two years after their most recent MOU lapsed.
Advising that it was important for the Australian Baseball League team and state body to work together, Bandits owner Mark Ready stated “I’m looking forward to working with BQ’s new management group.
“We are in a very competitive and challenging environment for all sports at the moment – I think this is the best result to sustain our baseball community.
“This new agreement is exactly what we need for the stability of our sport moving ahead.”
The agreement will provide a solid platform for the sport in Queensland, combining a wealth of knowledge and practical expertise.
Baseball Queensland Commissioner Chris Norrie said it was a significant step forward on the path to growth and cohesion for baseball in the state.
Norrie added "the future is now very bright indeed.
“We have a real opportunity to bring positive change for our sport in this state.
“We can’t do it without the collaboration of this key stakeholder.”
A statement released by both parties said joint projects were already being planned and is expected to be announced shortly.
