Healthy crowds support Brisbane Fitness Expo

Crowd numbers at the recent 2012 Brisbane Fitness and Health Expo indicate that the event is here to stay with 7,000 visitors attending the event - marking a 75% increase in attendance from the inaugural event last year.

Exhibitor numbers were also up 25% while the event drew strong industry support with more than 1,500 fitness and health industry professionals involved in the Expo run over Held on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st October at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, the star of the show was celebrity fitness expert and trainer from The Biggest Loser, Michelle Bridges who had thousands inspired by her centre stage presentations and attracted queues of hundreds eager for photos, autographs and one-on-one advice.

Other celebrities who attended the Expo included Olympic Beach Volleyball player Natalie Cook, Ironman Champion Ky Hurst and International Model Ellie Gonsalves.

Among the centre stage entertainment highlights of the weekend was the inaugural Brisbane Fitness Model Search, with almost 70 competitors and $5,000 worth of cash and prizes shared among the winners of the male and female fitness model and female bikini diva categories.

Additional spectacles that engaged the crowds included 'Muscle Beach' which featured Strongman competitor demonstrations by athletes such as Eben Le Roux, who was Australia's only entrant in the 2012 World's Strongest Man competition.

The 2012 Brisbane Fitness and Health Expo was such as success that the dates for the third edition of the event have been confirmed to be Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th October, 2013 again at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Brisbane Fitness and Health Expo owner Jason Greenhalgh said he is very happy with the growth the event has achieved in its first two years, stating "our aim is to create an event for Brisbane which will grow to resemble the huge expos held in other major Australian cities, such as the Australian Fitness and Health Expo in Sydney that has been running for almost 20 years.

"Growth like a 75% increase in attendance at the Brisbane Fitness and Health Expo over the past year signals an exciting future for the event.

"We can't wait for next year and are looking forward to planning an even bigger and better event to support the local industry and further engage local consumers."
