Hastings Consults on Aquatic Facilities Strategy
Hastings District Council is preparing an Aquatic Facilities Strategy to plan for the future provision of public swimming pools in the District.
The Council is inviting input from the public through a questionnaire and series of public workshops.
Hastings Deputy Mayor Cynthia Bowers says the aim of the consultation is to ensure that the communityâs ideas are included in future swimming pool planning, stating "quite a lot of work has been done over the past year through a review of the current stock of public swimming pools as physical assets so Council now has got a clear picture of their current state.
"Council has brought forward the timing of the strategy work to be as efficient as possible with its spending on the pools.
"We have chosen Strategic Leisure (NZ) Limited to prepare an Aquatic Facilities Strategy over the next few months. The strategy will make recommendations on the future provision of public swimming pools in the district and provide guidance for priority maintenance areas. It will also help Council to ensure its swimming pools are satisfying public demand."
Although the Strategy will focus on provision of pools within the Hastings District, Strategic Leisure (NZ) Limited is liaising with Napier City Council to ensure consideration of its strategic direction.
