Harvey Lister honoured at Premier of Queensland's Export Awards
Queensland Premier Campbell Newman has honoured Chairman and Chief Executive of AEG Ogden Harvey Lister for his significant contribution to Queensland's international reputation.
Presenting the Premier's Special Award at a ceremony held in Brisbane, Campbell Newman said Lister has been contributing to the international success of Queensland's sporting and entertainment industries for nearly 40 years.
Premier Newman explained "Harvey Lister is a remarkable Queenslander who began as an entertainment promoter during the 1970's, providing entertainment acts to Queenslanders across the state.
"Mr Lister and fellow Queenslander Rod Pilbeam went on to establish an international music, entertainment, conventions and sport venue management company and today, in partnership with US-based AEG, their Brisbane-based company AEG Ogden manages a family of 19 facilities from China to the
Middle East as part of AEG's group of over 100 venues globally, principally in Europe, and North and South America.
"Locally in Queensland, AEG Ogden manages the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, the Brisbane Entertainment Centre, Suncorp Stadium, and the Cairns Convention Centre.
"AEG Ogden's exporting success can be attributed to the company providing its Queensland expertise in venue management internationally, with overseas venues meeting Queensland's high-level standards.
"Mr Lister is currently working to expand his company's involvement in India and China, by developing a network of venues and stadiums across the continent as well as the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, and the recently opened $2 billion Qatar National Convention Centre in the Middle East."
The Queensland Premier's Special Award is presented to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to Queensland's export profile and success.
Premier Newman said Queensland companies continue to gain a world-wide reputation for their expertise in the events industry, including in stadium construction, sports and science technology and event services.
He added "Mr Lister is a Queenslander who plied his skills locally and then took them to the world.
"I congratulate Harvey Lister for his tireless work in putting Queensland on the map, and for his service to the world's sporting and entertainment industries from his Queensland base."
